Short on cash but need a gift?
Try homemade ‘coupons’. For the frazzled Mom, a few hours away from demanding, little voices is worth millions; a ‘date’ with JUST Mom or Dad is priceless, even if it’s just hanging out together and taking a spontaneous approach to the day; a ‘tea time’ visit with someone elderly while they reminisce of long ago is worth a fortune.

Long distance grandparents
Keep your child connected with her grandparents. Take pictures (action shots) of different activities throughout a typical week involving her. Let her write about each picture, in detail, on a separate sheet. Include special artwork. Write the title “A Week In My Life” with a dedication to her grandparents. It’ll be a cherished treasure as it connects the generations.

Mailing cards or letters to a patient in the hospital
Write that person’s home address instead of yours as the return address. That way, the patient will get it even if he or she has gone home AND, you won’t have to pay additional postage to re-mail it.

Your time is worth money
Consider hiring someone to do a job it would take you hours to do (lawn mowing, housecleaning). It will free you up to enjoy your family.

Crying puppy
If a puppy is crying at night, wrap a clock up in a towel. The regular tic-toc will comfort the animal.

Kids learn to share
To help kids learn to share-- At the beginning of the year, take a small calendar and use a different colored highlighter marker for each child. Highlight a different color for each week. The children each have their own color and know immediately whose week it is to ride up front, take out the garbage, sweep the floor, etc.
