Fashion, style and beauty tips

Who says older women shouldn’t wear bright clothes!
That’s pure nonsense! As your hair and complexion fade, the kickoff color gives a much-needed lift and makes you look younger. If you’re worried about overdoing it, tone the bright down by wearing white next to your face.
Bright colors will NOT make you look fat!
Neutrals or dark, drab colors actually may make your figure look dumpier than some well-chosen brights. Pairing a bright with a neutral (black, ivory, beige) prevents you from turning into a big color block. And wearing something bright around your face draws attention up, away from your body.
Green spans the distance between warm and cool colors….
Which results in a wonderful harmony. It also perks up the complexion and can help you look younger, more lively and stand out, beautifully.
A steady diet of neutral colors washes blonds out
Blonds need contrast to keep their light hair and pale complexions from blending into the woodwork. Don’t be afraid of brilliant colors to create a flattering look.
Bright colors bring attention to an area
Make sure you wear them wisely and only on your most flattering body parts.
Want to take the attention off your waist and hips?
Boat necks are great for minimizing waists and hips, while maximizing attractive shoulders.
Wish you had a longer neck?
A slim v-neck makes the neck appear longer and is usually very flattering.
Are you short waisted?
Wearing blouses with collared shirts always give a torso a few good inches and it frames the face handsomely.
Want to look slimmer?
The darker a print's background, the slimmer you will look.
If you are tall…..
You can take larger prints and more contrast.
It’s ok not to have a ‘perfect’ matched look
Don't worry if separates don't match exactly. Tonal variations are a creative alternative.
Want a slimming effect?
Any color worn head to toe in a clean, unbroken line will produce a dynamically slimming effect.
Dress to complement your proportions
Do you have a skinny bottom half? Wear a full top over narrow pants. Are you short waisted? Wear a long top and short skirt. Do you have a petite torso? Wear a fitted top with full pants. Are you long waisted? Pair a short top with long bottoms.

Before you shop, try on all of your favorite clothes
Take notes on how they fit and flatter you. Then shop for similar colors, fabrics, shapes and lengths.
Look better in your wardrobe by…..
Investing in comfortable, good fitting undergarments because the right foundation garments can make everything you own look better.
Take an inventory before you shop
You need to know what you already own. Go through your closet at the beginning of every season. This is also a good time to send seldom to never-wear clothing down the road to others who are looking for a pickup to their wardrobe.
Buy clothes to fit your lifestyle
You want to get your monies worth from your purchase. Consider your activities to determine whether or not a specific purchase will warrant the expenditure.
Shoes can make or break an outfit
Spend money on great AND comfortable shoes. You can even wear them with jeans and look fabulous!
Never buy on impulse
Ask yourself: Do I need this? Does it fit with my lifestyle and wardrobe? Where am I going to wear this? Can I really afford it? If you are still undecided, put it on hold and if you are still thinking about it at the end of the day, buy it.
Don’t spend money to save money just to make a fashion statement
If you don’t NEED it, don’t buy it, no matter how fashionable it is or how fantastic the sale price. It is a waste of money and closet space.
NEVER buy uncomfortable shoes
Nothing good can come from buying uncomfortable shoes regardless of how fabulous and trendy they are.
Take yours shoes shopping
If you are shopping for a cocktail (event) dress, be sure to take your shoes. That way if you need to have in-store alterations you will be all set.
When buying a new outfit
Don't talk yourself into an outfit that isn't flattering to your frame. There are only two kinds of clothes in this world. Clothes that flatter you and clothes that don't. Avoid the latter regardless of how popular and trendy they are.
Tracing a pattern design
Trace your pattern on the back of the material with chalk. After you finish cutting along the edge of the chalk line, the chalk can easily be removed with a damp cloth.
Glitter on Clothing
That new sparkly shirt shedding glitter all over the place? Spray with aerosol hair spray to make it stay put. Wash separately from other clothes, or at least wash it inside out if you must wash with other articles of clothing.
Remove creases in hems
To remove a hem crease, sponge the material with white vinegar and press with a warm iron.
