Bookstores often offer a variety of events for education and entertainment
Both big-chain and local bookstores often host a variety of events: author readings and signings, book discussion groups of all kinds, kids’ programs with storytelling and crafts, and even music. It’s a great way to get some culture while meeting other people with similar interests to your own.

Take advantage of your public library
Besides books, you can take out videos, audiotapes, DVD’s and CD’s for free. Libraries have become community centers that offer computers, book clubs, readings, and fabulous children’s programs. Ask for a schedule of activities. It’s a wonderful way to instill the love of learning into your children.

Clean hard bound book covers with stale bread
Since hard bound book covers have nearly the same texture as wallpaper, they can be cleaned with a balled up slice of stale bread. It also works on mildew, dirt and grease.

Remove mildew from books with baby wipes
Wipe the mildewed covers with baby wipes and then apply powdered sulfur to the pages.

Dryer sheets help preserve books
Place a dryer sheet in new books or photo albums will keep them smelling fresh, and can combat the musty paper smell of used or old books. Also works as a killer bookmark.
