While there is the saying the flying is safer than driving, plane crashes do happen and it is best to be prepared. Check out these quick tips of things you should do every time you fly.
Sit in an aisle seat or an exit seat
Research and Choose your Airline Carefully. Know how old the plane you are flying on is and when it’s last safety inspection was. Look up your airline’s history and check to see if they have ever changed their name to cover up a crash or incident.
Dress for Fire. While there most likely will not be any fire, it is always best to be prepared. Wear close toed shoes and avoid high heels as they are hard to maneuver in during an emergency. Avoid wearing synthetic materials since they melt when they are exposed to heat.
Choose a good seat. Sit in an aisle seat or an exit seat. These are the best options in the case that you might need to move quickly.
Be Prepared. Before takeoff count how many rows are between you and an exit seat, so you would be able to get there if you could not see your way in smoke. Read the safety card in the seat in front of you and make sure you are aware of the safety features of the plane you are on. Study where the exit doors are and how they work before you take off. Check under your seat for the life preserver and know how to take it out.
Wear your seat belt. While this may seem obvious, not enough people wear their seat belt properly. Wearing your seatbelt tight across your lap, your strongest part of the body, keeps you secure and safe. Seat belts are the difference between loosing your life and saving it.
