Temperatures drop below 20˚ in winter. If you do, your roses will produce new growth, which won’t have sufficient time to mature before winter sets in. Instead, apply a mixture of 1 cup of bonemeal and ½ cup of Epsom salts around the base of each bush before mulching and covering it for the winter.
