Rich, well-drained soil in semi-shade to shade. Plant where it gets direct sun early in day. Avoid midday full sun. Maintain even moisture during growing season. If needed place 1-2” layer mulch around plant away from base to keep soil evenly moist. When hot summer sets in, foliage turns yellow, dies back and goes into summer dormancy.
