The medium in which plants grow when in containers, formed of mixture of loam, sharp sand and peat, plus fertilizers, or mainly peat and usually known as peat-based compost. The other is material produced after total decay of vegetable waste and applied to soil as substitute for farmyard manure, dug into soil or spread over surface as a mulch.
