To increase the harvest of your spring planted cabbage….

Once the head reaches a reasonable size, cut it off right above highest set of loose leaves. Leave roots, stem and bottom leaves intact. When a small ring of heads appears around stem, side dress cabbage with compost. If you want another full head of cabbage, thin heads to just one healthy specimen. Or, let all grow for small heads.
