Late winter or early spring if your plant is getting too big for its container. Tip the cactus out of the pot and look at the roots. If they take up almost all the space, transfer the cactus to a slightly larger pot. Use kitchen tongs to lift out of pot. For best results, use a specialist cactus compost.
