Vinegar a few hours to remove salt deposits. For heavily crusted pots, scrub with a steel wool pad after soaking for up to 12 hours. Next, sterilize pots by dipping pots in 1 part bleach to 9 parts water. Let soak a few minutes then rinse off with clean water. Good also for plastic or ceramic pots.
