There are three main properties needed to ensure giant pumpkin growth:

Good seed stock, good fertile soil, and good weather. Giant pumpkins take prizes but are not much on taste and texture so don’t plan on making pies from them. To help determine good, strong seed, germinate the seed yourself to see which plants are the strongest growers.
