Eggshells make great ‘planting pots’

With a pencil, poke a hole in the bottom of half an eggshell. Fill it with potting soil and then lay your seed. When the seedling is ready to be transplanted, lightly squeeze the shell to crack it. Put the whole thing in the soil. The roots will grow through the cracks, while the shell decomposes and fertilizes the soil.
