Planted at least 6” down. They prefer alkaline soil that gets a summer baking. Bulbs push through ground in midwinter, waiting for warmer weather before flowering. They don’t mind being covered in snow. After flowering, leaves will elongate. They need to be left to die down naturally. Grow them among summer plants with substantial foliage that hides them.
