Blooming. Mid-to-late summer is a good time. Plants have many stems to cut from and are often needing pruning. Some plants, especially shrubs, root better if cuttings are taken as new shoots expand in the spring. If some of your cuttings don’t root well the first time, try taking cuttings earlier in the season the following year.
