Two-year-old plants. Adding peat moss, leaves, bark, or composted sawdust will lower the pH slowly, and in a year or two will make most soil acid enough. If pH is above 6.5, it can be made acidic. Give plants an acid mulch like oak bark or leaves, or add some sulfur or iron sulfate. Keep soil moist.
