When each shoot is 1-1.5’ long, weigh down tip with 1-2 clothespins. Once the tip of branch is lower than the shoot, growth will slow down and outer buds become fruitful. Remove clothespins during winter. By then, branches will keep their shape. In spring weigh down the tips of any other shoots you want to bear fruit.
