Actorsaccess.com allows you to create a personal profile online (owned by Breakdown Services Ltd.). Actor’s Access enables you to upload your headshots, resume, and demo reels to your profile. This is important because your Actor’s Access profile is what casting offices will see when your agent submits you for a particular role (aka breakdown).
A membership to Showfax Inc. (also owned by Breakdown Services) enables you to submit electronically submit your Actor’s Access profile for publically released breakdowns through actorsaccess.com. Membership to Showfax Inc. also gives you access to download scripts for auditions. Another valuable resource they provide is a printable list of casting offices and what television shows they are assigned to that particular year.
Note: Casting offices send a limited amount of breakdowns to the public. Agents receive industry-exclusive breakdowns through Breakdown Express (also owed by Breakdown Services Ltd.)
Casting Networks Los Angeles (aka LA Casting) enables you create an online profile much like actorsaccess.com but it is more geared toward commercials. Commercial agents primarily use LA Casting to submit their actors for roles. A membership to LA Casting also allows you to electronically submit for publically released breakdowns. Additionally, it gives you access to download scripts for commercials and contains a comprehensive list of casting offices/agencies with printable mailing labels. LA Casting also has the unique option of linking your cell phone to your profile. Your profile will send you a text-alert when you get a commercial audition from your agent or an audition you submitted for yourself.
Imdb.com (Internet Movie Data Base) is a key research tool for actors. Imdb gives comprehensive data on every film and television production in every department possible (actors, directors, producers, sound department, costume designers etc.). An annual membership to IMDB Pro gives you access to more data like an actor representation, film production costs vs. box office sales, and production company/casting office contact information.
