Putting out a saucer (for snails) or deeper plastic cup (for slugs) filled with stale beer, or a boiled yeast and honey mixture (of any proportion). Sink container into the ground so the top is at ground level. Slugs and snails will get into the mixture and drown. Check the container daily.
