Always use fertilizer at the rate recommended on the label

Read the instructions. More is not better. If you apply too much food, you risk burning the roots and foliage. Over-fertilizing can result in leaves that are burned at the tips, or accumulated salts that have built up on the soil surface as a white, chalky deposit. If you do over-fertilize, just leach it out.
