When it is time to buy the girl in your life a gift it can be a little overwhelming and stressful. You want your gift to be unique, thoughtful and to make her happy. As a woman I can give you a few helpful tips on how to come up with ideas for those unique gifts for her.

Time is more meaningful than money. Despite what the advertisements tell you, most girls do not expect an expensive gift at all. For most girls (those that you want to keep around) the most precious gift is the gift of time. Making something for her that took time is probably one of the most unique and meaningful things you could do. The best gift I ever received was from my boyfriend who made a mock music video of him and his friends lip-singing to me for Valentines Day. It didn’t cost my boyfriend a dime, but he did spend lots of time on it.
Make the gift an event. Instead of wrapping a jewelry box, make the gift be a fun event or day together that you planned. Take her ice skating, on a ferry boat ride, on a picnic at a beautiful location, to her favorite show, etc. Take along a camera and print the pictures you took at the end of the day. Again, the time spent together will be more meaningful than diamond earrings or a pearl necklace.
Hand make your card. If you do opt for a more traditional gift, it will still be loved and appreciated. There is always a time and place for a keepsake. You should instead hand make a card to accompany the gift rather than buy one. It doesn’t matter if you don’t have good handwriting or don’t know how to draw; she will love the effort that you put into it.
