Grasses are divided into two kinds:

Cool-season and warm-season. Cool-season grasses grow well in fall, winter, through early spring and like winters that are mild wet to frigid or snowy. They like summers that are warm or hot, but dry. Warm-season grasses grow well in late spring through summer and like winters that are mild and hot, humid or dry summers.
