Playing teambuilding games at work will get employees to get to know each other better and help build morale within departments. Here some games to play at work that are excellent for teambuilding:
Write down names of celebrities and historical figures on large Post-it notes. Stick the names of the backs of the employees so they can’t see their name. The employees must address each other as if they are the celebrity. Give the employees 10 minutes to find out who they are by going around the room and talking to as many coworkers as they can. This game is a great icebreaker to lead into other exercises.
Divide the employees into specific departments. Give each department an egg that they must drop from a fifty-foot distance without cracking the shell. Hand out various protective materials to each department so they can come up with a method to protect the egg from fall. Allot each group with a certain type of material so they have to trade amongst themselves to create the protective method. Give prizes to each group that successfully protects the egg from damage.
Give each department group a bucket with “toxic waste” material. This material can be water dyed a certain color or mashed-up Jell-O. The groups must transport the toxic material into a “neutral bucket” without using their hands (since it is supposed to be toxic). Provide the groups with rope, scissors, bungee cords, and clamps. Make sure to do this in an open area outside (this can get somewhat messy).
Tell each group to come up with an artistic representation of an aspect of the company’s goals or mission statement. Give each group poster board/butcher paper, poster paint, and a certain aspect of the mission statement to focus on. After the projects are finished, put the pieces together to form a mosaic. This will create a great visual that represents the collaboration of every department towards the company’s overall goal.
