• Rent a steamer. The fastest and cleanest way to remove wallpaper is to use a steamer. With the help of a steamer, moisture will penetrate inside wallpaper faster and easier than with the help of a sponge. After you get your wallpaper wet, it will be easy to peel it off. Many household carpet steamers come with a little attachment that can be used for wallpaper removal. If you don’t have a carpet steamer, you can rent one at any tool rental shops. Get one with the longest attachment so that you can reach the highest points of the wall. 

• Use warm water and a sponge. Using warm water and a sponge is the cheapest way to dampen wallpaper. Even though this technique is the messiest one, it won’t require purchasing any additional tools. If you decide to use a sponge, you should protect the carpet and furniture.

• Use a paper scraper instead of a wide knife. Instead of using a wide knife that most people would advise you to use, you should get a paper scraper instead. A paper scraper, unlike a knife, provides the proper scraping angle. It doesn’t damage walls unlike other tools. The blade has enough sharpness to scrape the wallpaper but not enough to cut a person. A paper scraper can be purchase at any hardware store for as little as $10.

• Hire teenagers. If you don’t have time or energy to remove wallpaper, you should hire teenagers. For this kind of task, the workers don’t need to have any experience. Create flyers describing the job and distribute them through your neighbors and friends.
