Baby sitting is a fun and great way to make easy money, but it is important to know some guidelines when taking on the job responsibility.
Your safety Your safety is very important when babysitting. Usually you are going to another person’s house and will work in their environment. You want to be positive that you are in a safe environment before you begin your job. Have a friend or family member drive by the house where you will baby sit and become familiar with the area. Every time you go to baby sit, let the friend or family member know. Leave that person a contact number to reach you.
 | Have a bag that you bring with you to any babysitting job that has fun things for the children to do. | Get to know the family Before your first baby sitting job, schedule a time to go over to the house to get to know the children, the parents, the layout of the house, and your job responsibilities.
Become a certified baby sitter Red Cross organizations often offer classes for baby sitting certification. The class teaches you the responsibilities and safety guidelines of baby sitting. It is highly recommended to complete a course before you begin any baby sitting job.
Emergency numbers Before the parents leave you with their children, go over an emergency phone number list. Have them include their cell phone numbers, a phone number of where they will be going, a close by neighbor or friend's number, and the numbers of any doctor that they use.
Activity bag Have a bag that you bring with you to any babysitting job that has fun things for the children to do. Fill it with coloring books, crayons, games, movies, etc. that can entertain the children while you are babysitting.
