You don't need an exotic locale, high-stress planning, or a fat price tag to make a great family vacation. Check out these ideas for the next time you and your family hit the road – or stick around town for the holidays.
Go camping. Whether it's Yellowstone or a nearby state park, pack up the tents and the firestarting equipment for a great outdoors experience with the family.
Rent a cabin. Check out the closest state or national park, or the ocean shore, or a nearby resort for a cabin to rent and relax in during your vacation.
Hit the slopes. Head for the hills – the big ones, and sail down their snowy sides on skis or snowboard.
Spend a week at a dude ranch. Relax with cowboys and ride horses on mountain trails, enjoying western music and vittles in the evening.
Roadtrip. Yes, this may make you shudder, but these can be quite memorable and the best sort of family vacation.
