Your bedroom is your space; your decor should be warm, inviting, and welcoming. You should enjoy spending time in your bedroom; it is, after all, where you spend at least a third of your life.
Clean and organize. Before starting on any decoration plan, your room should be cleaned, decluttered, and organized.
Peruse decorating magazines. Get inspired by looking over the rooms profiled in home and interior design magazines.
Consider the space. Plan around the size of your room, how it is shaped, and where the windows the windows are. You want a cozy, but not crowded, space.
Choose a color scheme. You will want soothing, subtle tones in your bedroom. What colors most soothe you – shades of blue, green and yellow, dark brown and beige, silky white?
Choose a style. Do you like a rustic or Victorian style, a modern look, English cottage design, romantic, African, art deco, Mexican, traditional, shabby chic? What kind of paintings, bed sheet design, posters, and furniture pieces express who you are and inspire you?
Choose lighting design. Will you have enough light? What kind of lamps fit your style and give off the best kind of light?
Keep it simple. You don't need much to make an attractive bedroom; don't add too many things to the room. Keep it stylish but simple.
