Living green became a way of life for those concerned about the future of this planet. Living green can reduce pollution, minimize the amount of garbage, save the environment and energy.
Here are a few green living tips:
- Recycle plastic, paper, aluminum, and glass. Recycling is the cornerstone of living green. The recyclables that don’t get recycled end up in the land field where they don’t decompose for decades. Also, these materials endanger animals and plants by producing toxic fumes and liquids. By recycling, we reduce garbage and create a cleaner environment for future generations.
- Reuse plastic water bottles. Instead of buying water in multiple plastic bottles, you should reuse old water plastic bottles, filling them with filtered water. By reusing plastic water bottles, you are reducing the amount of plastic bottles that has to be produced, thus reducing emissions.
- Use reusable fabric shopping bags. On average, one trip to the grocery store consumes 3 plastic bags. In one month one household can end up with 8-12 plastic bags; it is around 96- 144 plastic bags a year. The best way to minimize plastic garbage is to use reusable fabric shopping bags. Every grocery store sells these bags for around $1. They hold much more products than a plastic bag and the grocery store will usually reimburse you a couple of cents at a time.
- Use skylights. Natural light is the best way to light up the room during the day. If you are buying a house or building one, you should consider installing skylights in every room and especially bathroom. You will conserve energy and save money.
- Use green furniture. Using environmentally friendly furniture is a great way to live green. One example of green furniture is products made from bamboo rather than generic wood. Bamboo is one of the fastest growing plants. It matures in 5 years, making bamboo harder than Oak.
- Use solar products. Solar products are one of the best green living products. By using solar products instead of electricity operated products, you will save money and energy.
- Use carpools and buses. To reduce usage of gas, you should try to carpool and use buses as much as possible. By reducing traffic on the roads, you will help minimizing air pollution and noise.
