Are you in college, and you would like to earn some extra money? Or, are you a parent of a college student and you are sick of sending money every other week? It is easy to balance school, social life and a part time job while in college if you know how to manage your time. Here are a few suggestions on part time jobs that college students can hold while maintaining their studies and having a social life.
- Look for campus employment. Many offices and departments offer part time jobs or paid internships for students on campus. You may be working for a professor, department, alumni office, admissions or in the library. In many cases, you may be able to study and work on homework while you are working!
- Waitstaff. There are tons of restaurants near you campus - look to see if they need any extra waiters or waitresses. There are many college kids that earn more than what some make in a week just by waiting on tables a few nights a week.
- Babysitter. This is perfect! You can work a set and very flexible schedule with a family in your city (may even be a professor or someone else connected to your college). As well as an excuse to be a kid again, during nap time, you will have time to work on homework.
- Part time retail jobs. Check with local retail outlets - most are very flexible with your schedule - you can work mornings, during the day, nights and weekends. You will get paid above minimum wage and perks such as an employee discount will also help!
- Bank Teller. Most major banks will hire a part time teller to work a few days/hours a week. If you are studying finance or accounting, this would be a major perk to your resume.
