How To Improve Your Virginia Driver Demerit Points

Have you been just a little bit of a speed demon while driving? Have a lead foot? And you got caught? Oh no! So much for that perfect driving record. Now what?
After you go to court and pay your fine, you are now faced with 3, 4, or 6 negitive points on your driving record. Well, how can you improve this? What can you do to get back in the positive?
Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles has put a limit on how many safety positive points you can have. That limit is +5 points. Every year you drive safely without an accident or traffic ticket you receive +1 safety positive point from DMV. Another way you can obtain safety positive points on your Virginia Driving Record is to take a state approved Driver Improvement Course. (You can find a list of approved courses with the Virginia DMV). By taking this class you can obtain UP TO +5 safety positive points on your Virginia driving record. For example, ff you currently have +2 on your record and take this class, you can only recieve 3+ positive points for a total of +5 points. However, if you have -6, by taking the Driver Improvement Course, you can be at -1.
