Learning how to burn a CD on your PC will allow you to back-up data and create music playlists for parties, road trips, or for a loved one. Here is a guide for burning a CD using windows:
Two types of recordable CDs you can use are CD-R’s and CD-RW’s. CD-R is the best for recording music because they are playable on most audio systems. CD-RW are best for storing data because they are rewritable, but the disadvantage is that some audio systems will not read their music files. Keep both types of recordable CDs depending on the files you need to burn onto a hardcopy.
Insert the disc in the CD drive of your computer. An AutoRun window should pop up that allows you to click on an icon that says, “burn files to disc”. If AutoRun doesn’t appear right away, go to “My Computer” in the Start menu. Click on the CD icon to open up the burn wizard. Open up a new window search for the files on your computer that you want to copy. Highlight the files and drag them into the CD menu that is still open. Click on “Burn To Disc” in the burn wizard. Name the disc in the “disc title” box and select the fastest burn speed. Click next and wait for the disc to complete burning. The disc should eject automatically after it has finished burning.
- Burn Music With Windows Media Player
Open Windows Media Player. Click on the “Library”, then click on “List”, then “Burn List”. Create the list you want burn by searching for songs in the “Contents” window and drag the songs into the “Burn List” window. Rearrange the songs in the order you like by dragging them with you mouse. You can remove songs from the playlist by right-clicking the song and selecting “Remove From List”. Click on “Start Burn”. Make sure to select the “Audio CD” option instead of the “Data CD” (data CD will make the music unreadable in a sound system). Ensure that the disc has completed burning before removing it from your computer so you don’t lose any songs or damage the disc.
Open up ITunes from your Desktop or from the “programs” in the Start menu. Click on the “+” sign at the bottom left corner of the window to create a new playlist. It will allow you to type in text to name the playlist. Go through all your music and click/drag songs you want into the playlist file in the bottom left corner of the window. Click on the playlist to open it up. Make sure your CD will hold enough data to store the playlist (the amount of minutes/hours should be displayed at the bottom of the menu). Click “Burn Disc” in the right corner. A window will appear that will give you options on adjusting burn-speed and time between songs (none-5 seconds). Make sure to click “MP3 CD” so the music is readable in a sound system, and then click “Burn”. A bell-like sound cue will alert you when the burning is complete. Press the eject button next to the CD icon or the keypad to remove the disc.
