Learning how to burn a CD on your Apple computer will allow you to back up documents or pictures on a hard copy and make your own playlists to enjoy in your car. Here is a guide for burning a CD on an Apple computer:
Two types of recordable CDs you can use are CD-R’s and CD-RW’s. CD-R is the best for recording music because they are playable on most audio systems. CD-RW are best for storing data because they are rewritable, but the disadvantage is that some audio systems will not read their music files. Keep both types of recordable CDs depending on the files you need to burn onto a hardcopy.
Insert the recordable CD into the CD drive. Open the “Finder” menu and find the icon that is marked Untitled Disc under the “Places” section. Next, find the document or picture file in your “Documents” “Pictures” or “Desktop” section. Click on the files to highlight, then press “Command/C” to copy the file. Go back to your CD file and click on it to open the file. Press “Command/V” to paste the data into the CD file. Repeat the same process for all the data you want to copy. Once you are done copying, go to the CD file and click “Burn” at the top right corner of the file. You will hear a bell-like sound cue when the burning is complete. Double-click on the Untitled Disc label, which will allow type in a custom name for the disc. Go to the CD file icon and press the eject symbol to properly remove the CD without damaging the files.
Click on the ITunes icon on the dock to open up ITunes. Click on the “+” sign at the bottom left corner of the window to create a new playlist. It will allow you to type in text to name the playlist. Go through all your music and click/drag songs you want into the playlist file in the bottom left corner of the window. Click on the playlist to open it up. Make sure your CD will hold enough data to store the playlist (the amount of minutes/hours available should be displayed at the bottom of the window). Click “Burn Disc” in the right corner. A window will appear that will give you options on adjusting burn-speed and time between songs (none-5 seconds). Also make sure to select “MP3 CD” option so music readable for a sound system. Click “Burn”. A bell-like sound cue will alert you when the burning is complete. Press the eject button next to the CD icon or the keypad to remove the disc.
