Easy bathroom mold removal

All bathrooms are susceptible to mold, due to the daily presence of water vapor in the air. For easy Bathroom mold removal, just open the window if you have one, turn on the bath fan, grab some cheap bleach and scrub away.

Be sure to wear old clothes, because you will get bleach on them, and that will probably ruin your little black dress.

First fill a plastic bucket half full with hot water from the tub, dump about a half gallon of bleach into the water, along with a little tri-sodium phosphate (TSP) that you can get at the hardware store. TSP used to be the active ingredient in all detergents.

It is the best agent to lift the grime and dirt from your clothes in the wash, so it works great on walls too. If you use straight TSP in your bucket, rather than detergent, it won’t foam or leave a film behind.

You can’t really overuse TSP, so just shake a about a palm full into the water and mix well. Use a soft scrub brush or rough cloth and scrub the mold away. Depending on the level of mold, you may have to repeat. Always cover flooring and natural woodwork, as bleach may harm them.

To prevent mold, always use your bath fan when showering, and for at least ten minutes afterward. If you have a window, and you don’t live in Minnesota in February, crack the window, too. Consider replacing the fan with a more powerful fan to move more cubic feet per minute (CFM) of air. This will vent the warm water vapor quicker and keep it from plating out (sticking) to the cooler bathroom walls.

Finally, use one of the paints with anti-fungal properties when you repaint, they really do work, and most can be tinted to a wide variety of colors.
