There are a bazillion different nail clippers to choose from and despite what you may think, they are not all the same. Some are designed for toenails, others for fingernails, some for special nail situations and others for special kinds of people. Follow these 3 tips on how to buy the best nail clippers for you
Assess who you are buying your nail clippers for
There are nail clippers designed for adults, for children and for infants. There are nail clippers designed for diabetics. For those with arthritis or weak grips there are nail clippers available with thicker grips that can be mounted to the table. Make sure to buy the appropriate nail clippers for the person whose nails are going to be clipped.
Distinguish between fingernails and toenails
There are different nail clippers for thick toenails and thinner fingernails. Toenail clippers are large with sharp scissors to penetrate through thick nails. Fingernail clippers are more light weight and can only clip thin to moderately thick nails. You can use either clipper types on your fingernails and toenails, depending on how thick your nails are.
Decide between a straight and round cut
Some nail clippers cut your nails with a straight cut while others cut rounded. Make sure you select the appropriate nail clippers for the kind of cut you want. I suggest using a nail file to smooth the sharp edges left by a straight cutting clippers so that you do not scratch yourself.
