Many people get fungus on their toenails, but fingernail fungus is just as common and harder to hide. You can have beautiful, clear fungus free fingernails in no time by following these tips on the best fingernail fungus treatment:

Fingernail clippers

It is important to keep your fingernails as short as possible. Keep them clipped so that there is no white at the tip of your nails. This shrinks the amount of the nail the fungus has to hide under. It is also easier to keep your fingernails clean when they are short and it is impossible for dirty and grim to get stuck underneath. As your finger nails grow, continue to clip them. Along with applying tea tree oil the infected part of your nail should eventually grow out.

Antibacterial Soap

Wash your hands regularly with antibacterial soap and warm water. Fingernail fungus grows where it is dirty, dark and moist. The cleaner and drier your hands, the faster fingernail fungus will die.

Tea Tree Oil

Apply essential tea tree oil to all of your fingernails 2-3 times a day using a Q-tip. Make sure to rub the oil on the cuticle, at the edge of the nail and along the side of the nail bed. Tea tree oil works as a natural antifungal. It is safe and effective. The treatment should take a few weeks to clear up the fungal infection completely.  Fingernail fungus is easier to treat than toenail fungus because your fingers do not generally hide away in dark, sweaty shoes all day which is a prime place for fungus to grow. The more your fingernails can be exposed to clean, dry open air the better.

Sterilize

Make sure to sterilize any metal instruments you use on your fingernails, such as a nail clipper or nail file. Soak such instruments in rubbing alcohol for at least 10 minutes and allow them to air dry.  Do not let other people use a towel that you used your fingers on, as your nail fungus can easily spread to them. Instead, wash a towel as soon as you use it, or use paper towels or napkins to dry your hands as they can be easily discarded after use.

Watch where you touch

Fingernail fungus is easily spread, so watch where you touch. It is best to wear cotton or wool gloves as the fungus clears to eliminate contamination of other people and surfaces. Cotton and wool gloves allow the nails to breath, which is important for the fungus to clear.
