If you're great with kids, you may be looking for a job that involves working with children. Check out these ideas and possibilities.
Some jobs and careers require more schooling than others: for example, becoming a teacher or a pediatric nurse requires at least a four-year bachelor's degree; becoming a pediatrician requires a bachelor's degree plus medical school, plus an internship of several years; becoming a librarian and a social worker will often require a master's degree.
School. Apply to be a teacher, teacher assistant, or teacher's aide at an elementary school; often helpers are needed to work one-on-one with the children.
Childcare. Offer your services to friends and neighbors as a babysitter, or apply at a local daycare or child center. You can also become a nanny, or an au pair overseas.
Camp. Check out job openings at summer camps and other types of camps: dance, theater, sports, etc.
Entertainment. If you have a talent with magic tricks, juggling, clowning, and the like, you can set yourself up as a children's entertainer. Offer your services at schools and libraries.
Library. Work in the children's area of the public or school library and host book reading events for the kids.
Medical. Work as a school or camp nurse or become a pediatrician or pediatric nurse. You can also enter the fields of child psychology, child development, and art, music, or recreation therapy.
Social work. There are many opportunities in the social service world to work with and for children, such as a juvenile probations officer, child protection worker, child advocate, adoption counselor, and foster parent.
