Publishing and creating a newsletter is a great way to reach out to clients, donors, friends and family about what is going on in your organization. There are 3 main ways to publish newsletters; either by print, email, or posting your newsletter online.
Printing your newsletter-
If you are going to print your newsletter you should always print in color. Investing in color print is worth the extra bit of money since readers will be more likely to pick up your newsletter and read it. You can either mail or hand out your printed newsletters. Make sure you set the printer for the paper size you intend to use, and that your newsletter fits into envelopes or has a blank page for a mailing address and stamp if you plan to mail them.
Emailing your newsletter-
After creating your newsletter on the computer you should convert the file to PDF format. Microsoft Publisher and Adobe Publisher can convert documents into PDF directly. If you are not able to convert your newsletter into PDF format through the program you used to create your newsletter use PrimoPDF (www.primopdf.com), the only free PDF conversion software that I know of. Simply download the program from its website, upload your document and click "convert" for a PDF version of your newsletter. Make sure to save the PDF version in your documents. Then simply attach the PDF document to a mass email, write in title of your newsletter in the subject box, click send, and your newsletter has been distributed!
Posting your newsletter-
Convert your document to PDF format as described above and then upload your PDF online. I suggest using Google Documents. Post the URL or link to the electronic version of your newsletter on your webpage or blog that directs people to the URL of your newsletter. Walla! Readers can now access an electronic version of your newsletter!
