Valentines Day is a holiday all kids look forward to. Make your child's Valentine's special and express your love for them in a personalized way. I recommend these valentines gifts for kids:
Start your child's day with love. Prepare a valentine themed breakfast for your child. Make pancakes, French toast, or cinnamon swirl toast. Use heart cookie cutters (one size or various sizes) to cut hearts out of the breakfast. Cover with strawberry jam and serve with love! Your child will love starting the day with this special treat.
Pack a valentines lunch. Make a peanut butter and jam sandwich for your child's lunch and use a heart shaped cookie cutter to cut two hearts out of the sandwich. Include a valentines card in the lunch box and tell your child how much you love them. Don't forget a special Valentine's candy treat!
Spend quality time with your child. Often the best way to show a child that you love them is giving them some quality time. Take your child on a special date to a restaurant, or if it is warm where you live go on a special Valentine's picnic. You could also plan a special craft to do together. While there is an abundance of crafts out there, here are 2 fun valentines craft that I recommend:
- Make a heart wreath. Cut out paper hearts from different colors and patterns of paper. Glue them together to form a circle. Write down words that compliment your child with a permanent maker on the hearts. You can help your child decorate the wreath with glitter glue.
- Make a puffy heart. Cut a large heart out of cardstock. Cut small squares of red, pink and white tissue paper. Show your child how to place the eraser end of a pencil in the center of a tissue square and twist, dot the tip with glue and stick it on the cardstock. Let your child decorate the heart in any pattern they wish.
Valentine's Treasure Hunt. Your kids will love a valentines scavenger hunt. Hide small gifts around the house with hints to the next gift. Have the last surprise be the biggest gift of all - a Valentine's date with popcorn, candy, their favorite movie and quality time with you. Make it special by laying in sleeping bags, building a blanket-fort to watch the movie in, or sitting on top of pillows just to do something new and exciting!
