You don’t need to coat your nails with polish to get and keep them shiny. A nail buffer block is the best way to naturally acquire beautifully polished nails. Nail buffer blocks are small and rectangular with a different type of sandpaper material on each of the 4 sides that can be used to buff and shine your nails. Follow these 6 steps to naturally shine your nails using a nail buffer block.
Shape your nails. Use the coarsest side of the nail buffer block as a nail file. File your nails down and shape them as you wish.
Use a Q-tip to apply olive oil to your nails. The oil will moisturize your nails and loosen any dead skin cells around your cuticles. Let the oil sit for at least 5 minutes before using the nail buffer block.
Smooth the ridges out of your nails. Use the second coarsest side of the nail buffer block on your nails. Make sure to massage in light circular motions. If the nail becomes dry, reapply a light layer of olive oil with a Q-tip. Continue to rub until the top of the nails are smooth.
Diminish scrapes and small imperfections. The second softest side of the nail buffer block allows you to buff out small imperfections that tarnish your nail's overall look. Continue to buff the nail in small circular motions until any and all indents and scratches are gone.
Polish your nails until they are shiny. Use the softest side of the nail buffer block to finish your nails. Continue to massage your nail in small circular motions until the nail looks polished and shiny.
Moisturize your hands. You can either apply more olive oil or use a moisturizing hand lotion to hydrate your hands, nail beds and cuticles. This helps your nails stay healthy and shiny longer.
