What is the best way of getting pregnant during ovulation

For some women getting pregnant can be difficult, especially since an egg survives unfertilized in the fallopian tube for only 24 hours until it is absorbed back into the body.  Conception in that 24 hour window is the only way to get pregnant. Read below to find out what is a sure way of getting pregnant during ovulation.

Have intercourse right before ovulation. Pregnancy is possible only when attempted right before and during ovulation, when an egg is released from an ovary into a fallopian tube.   Because ovulation only lasts for 24 hours, it can be hard to catch the window of opportunity. That is why it is important to have sex before ovulation - sperm can live for up to 1 week inside a woman's body.  If sperm is already in the body, the moment an egg is released it can be fertilized.

Position yourselves for pregnancy. Doctors recommend having intercourse in positions that allow sperm to stay in the woman's body longer. Positions that allow deep penetration are best. The missionary position is good for pregnancy because a woman is already laying down, helping keep sperm in her body.  After ejaculation the woman needs to lay on her back and prop her hips up on a pillow. She should hold her knees into her chest and stay in this position for 15 to 30 minutes.

You can Determine Ovulation By:

Tracking your menstrual cycle. A woman's body ovulates 12-16 days before her next period. Record the number of days between the first days of your periods and use that number to predict when your next period should come. If your periods are irregular, average out the number from the last 3 months. Predict when your next period should be and count backwards 12-16 days. That is when you should ovulate.

Measuring your basal body temperature.  Your body temperature briefly spikes as an egg is released into the fallopian tube. Take your temperature every morning at the same time before getting out of bed.   When you see your body temperature spike you have 12-24 hours to fertilize an egg.

Testing your urine. Use take-home tests that indicate ovulation is about to occur. Urine tests are available to purchase and use at home that measure the levels of the luteinizing hormone (LH) in a woman's body. LH is the hormone that triggers the release of an egg into the fallopian tube.  Test twice a day at the same times every day - preferably once in the late morning and again in the evening.  Watch for a spike in LH; LH levels rise just before ovulation occurs.

Monitoring your cervical mucus. Keep an eye on your vaginal discharge throughout your menstrual cycle. Notice changes in quantity and consistency that occur - when you ovulate your discharge is more clear, and is a slimier texture that is often described to look and feel like egg whites.

Noticing pain in your ovaries. A common sign of ovulation is pain and aching on one side of the lower abdomen, above the ovaries. The pain can be either dull or sharp.  Not all women feel this, but if you are experiencing aching in the middle of your menstrual cycle, it is most likely a sign that you are ovulating.
