Wedding Attendant Responsibilties

What are the responsibilities of your wedding attendants?  Here is a quick list of who is expected to do what at your wedding.

Maid or Matron of Honor:

• Helps the bride select bridesmaid attire
• Helps address invitations and place cards
• Organize the bridesmaid's gift to the bride
• Plan bridal luncheon and/or shower
• Holds the groom's ring and the bride's bouquet during the ceremony
• Witness the signing of the marriage certificate (if necessary)
• Helps the bride during the reception

Bridesmaids:

• Attends rehearsal, rehearsal dinner and bridesmaid's luncheon
• Supervises the children in the wedding party if asked
• Assists the bride at the reception as requested
• Participates in wedding activities
• Gives a gift to the couple
• Helps plan the bridal shower

Best Man:

• Organizes bachelor party
• Gives a gift to the couple
• Makes sure that the groom's wedding-related payments are prepared, delivers payments
• Make sure everyone arrives on time
• Keeps brides wedding ring
• Witnesses the signing of marriage certificate (if necessary)
• Offers first toast during reception/rehearsal dinner

Groomsmen:

• Attends rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, and bachelor party
• Individual gift to couple
• Knowing seating order for family
• Greeting guests and escorting to their seats
• Laying of aisle runner
• Helping guests who need directions to the reception site
