Sure, we all like to go out and buy cute dresses within the season, but what items should you invest in? Here are a few classic pieces that every woman should invest in for multiple outfits for years to come.
- Dark Denim Jeans: Go on ahead, INVEST. Buy a good pair of jeans that will not fade or fray in the wash. Semi-dressy, slim fit jeans would be the best.
- High-Quality Basic Tshirts and Camis: They will go under everything from blazers to sweaters. They are fairly inexpensive, but look for high quality products that will last wash after wash. Stock up in a good number of black, brown, white and nude, however, be sure to purchase a few "hot" colors that will spice up any outfit.
- A few crisp white button down shirts: Always a staple - can be dressed up or down for any outfit.
- Fitted Blazer: Regardless of the fabric of choice, a fitted blazer has an automatic slimming effect. Look for styles that cut in at the waste and have well defined lapels. Avoid boxy shapes.
- Multiple Thing V-Neck, Scoop-Neck, Turtleneck and Cardigan Cashmere Sweaters: Cassic investments for your closet! Purchase in multiple fun colors. Again, these may cost you quite a bit in cash, however, they will last forever if your store these properly.
- A suit: Even if you do not have to wear a suit to work every day, you should have at least one suit. Try to purchase one that can also match up with a skirt.
- Black, lighweight wool trousers. Always a classic staple to any wardrobe.
- Flat front khakis: I honestly cannot count the times where I had to wear khakis to an event and I am frantically running somewhere and I buy a pair that I do not really like just to get by. Go on ahead and find a good pair that fit your body type. And whatever you do, avoid pleated khakis at all costs.
- Cute lounge outfit: I know, I know, you LOVE your nasty Hanes sweatsuit. However, on those days where you need to just run to the store for one quick thing, and you do not want to get dressed...this is when you need your "nice, comfy outfit." A well fitting pair of yoga pants is a good option (not too tight!!) Also, avoid velour. It looks like something your grandmother would wear.
- The little black dress. A very important staple. I did not realize how much I turned to my LBD until I had one - now I do not know what I would even do without it.
