Computer monitors contribute to the overall computing experience. Without a proper monitor the benefits of your powerful computer will be greatly reduced. There are a number of aspects you should conside
r when looking for computer monitors. When you see computer monitors for sale, don’t just look at the price, look at the overall picture.
Here are a few tips on what to look for when shopping for monitors:
- Screen Size. Screen size is the first aspect you notice when looking at a monitor. You have a choice of a monitor as small as 7” to as large as 70”. Large monitors are great for video gaming and watching movies. Also, if your video card supports it, you can use several smaller monitors at the same time. It is beneficial for those who work with several files at the same time.
- Type of the screen. The days of bulky CRT monitors are almost over. LCD monitors are the most common types now. They take up a lot less room and provide much better quality, especially new TFT-LCD HD monitors. Not all monitors are HD though. Look carefully when making your choice.
- Quality of the image. There are a lot of aspects that influence the quality of the picture on your monitor. The most common ones are screen resolution (a number of pixels), contrast ratio (a ratio of the brightest white to the darkest black), refresh rate (a number of times the screen collects information), and viewing angle.
- Accessories. Check if the monitor comes with built-in speakers, a web cam, or a TV-tuner. There are a lot of additional accessories that modern computer monitors can have. Sometimes they are worth paying extra for and sometimes you’ll be better off without them.
