When caring for a kitten it is important to train your little fur-ball-of-joy how to use the litter box.
Start litter training your kitten early.
It is important to start training your kitten to use the litter box as early as possible. As soon as your kitten is old enough to walk around and start eating on its own you should introduce the litter box.
Use a kitten friendly litter box.
Place a waterproof mat underneath a small litter box. Your kitten should be able to climb in and out of the litter box easily. Odorless, non-clumping litter should be used and always kept clean. A kitten’s litter box should not be shared with other cats and should be in a quiet place, away from where you kitten eats.
Litter train your kitten
You will need to have patience as you teach your kitten to use the litter box. If you see your kitten squatting somewhere other than the litter box, quickly place them in the litter box and have them relieve themselves there. Show them how to cover up their duty by flicking litter of it with your finger. If your kitten does accidently litter on the floor, pick it up and put it in the litter box. Bring your kitten to the litter box and show them where it is. If your kitten does use the litter box correctly, praise it greatly. I taught my kitten how to use the litter box within a week. It does work, you must have patience!
