Traveling is one of the greatest adventures of all time. In order to have a pleasant trip and avoid any catastrophe there are a few things you need to do while traveling to be safe. Have a pleasant experience from beginning to end by following these 4 travel safety tips.

The key is to blend in as much as possible. If you dress well and stylishly thieves will assume you've got lots of money to your name. Do not wear flashy clothes that scream out that you are an American or tourist. Wear modest clothing at all times. Women can also attract the creepy kind of attention that they don’t want if they show too much skin and cleavage.
Contact is Key
Staying in communication with your family and friends at home lets them know that you are safe and where you are supposed to be. In the rare case that anything were to happen, people would know to look for you if your email or phone calls stopped coming.
Leave the Bling at Home
Don't wear any kind of jewelry while traveling. Thieves will grab at rings, necklaces, watches and bracelets.
Hide your Valuables
Never put your wallet in the obvious places (like your front or back pocket). Don't even tempt the thieves! American student travelers are their easiest prey. Instead, take your cash and cards, passport and travel papers along with you in a hidden compartment or money purse under your clothes.
A friend of mine thought his wallet was safe in his front pocket when he was in Europe with his hand over it until a thief pushed him down and grabbed all his money anyway. A hand over your pocket tells thieves that you have something valuable there.
