Fresh lemon and lime is the best way perk up a glass of regular old water.  Lemon and lime water is the only way I can drink my 8 glasses of water a day and stay healthy and hydrated. Follow these easy steps and make your own lemon and lime water in less than 10 minutes.

Buy fresh lemons and limes.

When making lemon and lime water, the best way is the fresh way.  When you take your lemons and limes home from the grocery store put them in the refrigerator right away to keep them fresh and chilled.

Fill a pitcher with water.

When choosing a pitcher figure out how many 8 oz. glasses of water fit into it.  A quart holds 32 oz. and a gallon holds 128 oz. of water.  You can use tap water, purified water from a pitcher or bottled water - whatever you prefer.

Prepare the lemons and limes.

When you are ready to make fresh lemon and lime water, remove 1 lemon and 1 lime from the fridge and wash them in clean water and dry with a towel.  Roll the lemon and lime on a cutting board while applying pressure to crush the inside and stimulate juice flow.

Slice and squeeze.

Cut your lemon and lime each into halves, then quarters, and then into eighth slices.  Squeeze the juice of 1 lemon and 1 lime slice into your water pitcher for every 8 oz. glass of water that your pitcher holds.

Stir and serve.

Stir the lemon and lime juice into the water and serve in a glass of ice. To add visual appeal put a lemon or lime wedge on the side of the glass.

Store and serve again.

Lemon and lime water keeps really well. All you have to do is put the pitcher in the fridge to chill until you serve it again. If you did not use all your lemon and lime slices put them in an air tight container or Ziploc bag and refrigerate until you serve another glass of lemon and lime water and garnish the edge of the glass.
