Having dandruff can be itchy and horribly embarrassing. I suffer from dandruff spells every few weeks and I know my sister has dandruff problems constantly. In a desperate search to discover why we were prone to these annoying flakes I did some investigating. Here are 5 tips to help you avoid dandruff
 | Often dandruff can be avoided by simply washing your hair more frequently. | Use your brush.
I have noticed that daily brushing your hair daily helps to remove dead skin cells before they have a chance to build up. Brush your hair before you wash it in order to loosen any dead skin cells so they are sure to come off in the shower.
Catch some rays.
I have found that exposing my scalp to sunshine has been a very effective measure of fending dandruff off. Natural vitamin D seems to do the trick.
Wash you scalp more frequently.
Often dandruff can be avoided by simply washing your hair more frequently. Dandruff is an excessive amount of dead cells that flake off of your scalp. Thoroughly cleaning your scalp more frequently reduces the build up of dead cells.
Use Antidandruff Shampoo.
Washing your hair with antidandruff shampoo will decrease oil and dead cell build up on your scalp. I have found that you do not need to use antidandruff shampoo every time you wash your hair, but once or twice a week may be enough to keep a dandruff problem from occurring.
Eat right.
I have read that certain nutrients are essential for a healthy scalp. Make sure to eat foods with Omega 3 fatty acids, vitamin B and zinc. Some good foods to eat that keep dandruff away include eggs, fish, bananas, nuts, avocados, spinach, flaxseed and whole grains.
