Toenail fungus can be painful, ugly and mortifying. Follow these 5 tips on how to cure toenail fungus and you will be able to show off fungus free bare feet in no time.
Keep Feet Clean and Dry
Regularly wash your feet in warm water and with antibacterial soap. Dry your feet thoroughly, do not let them air dry as moisture can stay locked under the toenail. Toenail fungus likes to grow where it is dirty and damp.
Clip Away All You Can
Use metal toenail clippers to cut off as much of the infected toenail as you can. Do not cut so much that your toenail bleeds, but do not let there be white space on the nail either. You should cut just along the edge of the nail. Fungus enjoys growing under any length of toenail that protrudes from the toe.
Wash again
Once you have cut as much of the infected nail off that you could, wash your feet with soap and warm water again. Make sure to dry them completely.
Apply toenail fungus treatment
Apply toenail fungus treatment to the infected areas. One of the most popular treatments is using Vicks Vapo-Rub. Apply the gel to each toenail, and rub it on all over your feet, particularly your toenails. Let is soak in and put dry socks on to keep the gel from rubbing off or staining things. Apply Vick’s twice a day, once in the morning and once at night before bedtime.
Sterilize
Remember to sterilize any instruments that you used on infected toes such as toenail clippers. Soak them for at least 10 minutes in rubbing alcohol and let them air dry. This prevents any spreading of the fungus to other members of your household.
