How to make a cowboy party into a rip-roaring time.
Load up the chuckwagon. Serve the victuals on a wagon-like table outdoors, or serve the food indoors in wagon-shaped containers.
Have a shindig. Gather the guitar and fiddle players and play some old hoedown tunes and get to stompin' the floor.
Play lasso the maverick. Set up a hobby horse (or attach a head to a sawhorse) and tie a rop into a lasso. Good game for kids and adults alike.
Dress the part. Have everyone come in cowboy hats and bandanas, or supply them yourself when they arrive. See if you can have buckskin, spurs, and boots on hand as well.
Go for a ride. Spend the afternoon in the saddle before heading to the chuckwagon. Visit a local ranch or ride your own if you got them.
Do it in the Dutch. Make the meal in a Dutch oven outside over an open fire, if you want to be authentic. Try pinto beans, pork and beans, beef stew.
Make "Wanted" picture frames for your invitations.
