Getting grease off your hands can be incredibly difficult. But that does not mean you are stuck with black hands till the end of days. By following these 5 easy steps you can get grease off your hands in no time.
Wash Normally
The first step is to wash your hands with soap and warm water to get as much of the grease off as possible. Try to do this as soon as possible. The longer you leave the grease on your hands, the more it will stain. It is best to use is dish soap rather than regular hand soap because it is designed to break down grease and grime. There is also a soap specifically designed for grease stains called GoJo Hand Cleaner.
Apply Petroleum Jelly
Your hands will most likely still be discolored from the grease after washing. Vigorously rub petroleum jelly into your hands. Pay close attention to rubbing the jelly into your knuckles and cuticles as these areas stain darker than others because they are made of drier skin. Rinse your hands with soap and warm water to remove the petroleum jelly.
Soak
Soak your hands in warm water for 10-15 minutes. Mix a creamy moisturizing body wash, bath salts, shampoo for oily hair or hair conditioner into the water. This helps to remove the dead and dry skin that continues to trap any grease left on your hands.
Exfoliate
Use a washcloth to scrub the grease off your hands. It is best to use a salt scrub along with the washcloth. If the stains are still hugging onto your hands, gently rub a pumice stone on the stained areas.
Moisturize
It is important to apply a deep moisturizing lotion after treating them so roughly by getting the grease off your hands. Moisturizing regularly will also keep your hands softer and less prone to grease stains in the future. Dry and dead skin such as calluses are the worse grease stain traps.
