How to Reject Someone Without Hurting Their Feelings

Have you ever been told by a good friend that they have feelings for you? Here is a way to tactfully reject them without hurting their feelings or breaking their heart.
Make sure no one is watching. No one wants to be rejected in front of a group! How embarrassing! Try to take them to another room or to the corner where you are not within hearing distance.
Say something like..."I just do not feel the same way" or "I see you as a great friend."
Act like your feel sorry and smile ONLY at the right times. If you smile throughout, you may be sending a rude message.
Cheer them up - be kind to them. Do not rub it in their face. Do not pity them. It was really hard for them to express their feelings towards you - realize that.
Be calm. Do not raise your voice to speak in a sharp tone.
Don't be rude! Be flattered that they do like you!
If you will never see this person at all, or will never see again, keep the rejection as blunt as possible. Do not send mixed messages.
Avoid flirting with this person after the rejection. They may think that you have changed your mind.
